Hatcher Pass and Fish Hook Road Hatcher Pass is named after the miner who found gold in this area which leads to Independence Mine. The road was paved into one of the nicer Miata roads which is a local favorite. There are two restaurants, one below and on top of the hill. This run alone is 3 hours roundtrip from Anchorage but is worth it. We usually take it through Fishhook road and Old Glenn which totals 3 curvy roads of fun. Dinner in Palmer? LOL! JENNY,TOOFUN, KAZOOM, SARAH, JSTFUN, SCRUFFY, and M&M May 8, 2004 It was a week of great weather in Anchorage which meant not so good weather for the weekend. What to do? Go out of town and cruise to Hatcher Pass. 10 AM at Barnes & Nobles, the weather didn't look good. We checked the weather and it said that it was overcast in Palmer too. Seven people came out, Ron and Noel, Marilyn and Meera, John, Jon, and Mike. After a quick meeting of new and old business, photos, and banner signing we headed out to Hatcher's Pass with tops up.
KOOPA, KAZOOM, JENNY, SPYDER, and M&M.
On the road we hit green lights and it
was "clear sailing" up until an SUV almost hit John/KOOPA by switching lanes.
John quickly reacted and moved out of the way. Other than that, Marilyn did a
very good job as lead. When we reached Hatcher Pass the sun broke through
and tops were dropped. The roads were still a bit dangerous as they had a
layer of sand but we managed to reach the top. The view was awesome as the
mountains were snow capped and the blue sky was a perfect backdrop. We
stopped and looked around as the ritual of pictures and socializing went on.
We decide to eat at the Mother Lode to
give it a try. After lunch we split up and called it an afternoon.
Little did we know that the day wasn't over yet. I wanted to take the Old
Glenn Highway as I think it is an exciting road back to Anchorage. But in
Palmer, John spotted a white Miata. Now, things were getting interesting.
We stopped and met Paul and Deborah, a couple who both owned Miatas.
Deborah has a white NB named SALVO and Paul has a red NB called HOOLIGAN, both
with matching shark teeth. We talked and took pictures which lasted 30
minutes. We said our goodbyes and drove to Anchorage only to find three
other Miatas. We quickly "tagged" those and headed home. It was a
long day and the weather in Anchorage was still, not so good.
August 20, 2005 Four members came together
for a lodge run to Hatcher Pass. Before leaving Barnes & Nobles we
met Tony who joined and made the trip even more interesting. Tony
drives a red M2, SAKURA but also owns a Jeep. 2006 Looking for

think this was a Leaf Peeper instead. 2008 Scheduled
